Unbasic Gift Guide

So in case you haven’t noticed, it’s DECEMBER!! Which means if you haven’t started on Christmas shopping yet, you might even feel a little behind the game. Or maybe you have people asking you what you want for Christmas but you don’t know what to tell them. You could try to think of things, or you could just look at this list. :) Below are some of my favorite things that i’d love to give or receive! A few of them I actually own and the rest are definitely at the top of my wish list this year! Happy shopping friends!

Friendsgiving 2018

Our first Friendsgiving at our new home was a success! It’s been 4 years annually now to have Friendsgiving with the same group of our closest friends that we do life with throughout the year. The design lover in me always has a little bit too much fun decorating the table, and this year has to be one of my favorites for sure! Each year just sets the bar a little higher for the next. ;) Thankfully as far as cooking goes, each couple brings a dish or two so Spenser and I don’t have to do all the cooking, but we did make this stuffing that was a huge hit. Seriously, try it. Happy Thanksgiving all! Thankful for you! Linen: La Tavola, Chairs: Poly and Bark, Plates: World Market, Chargers: (sold out but here’s a cute similar option)Target, Place Cards: Willemina Typography, Glassware: Target, Candlesticks: Target, Flatware: Borrowed, Napkins: VHC brands, Flowers: Fleurie Flower Studio

2018 Playlist

Hey guys! I know it's been a little while since I updated the lifestyle blog, I'm trying to get better at that! For now just wanted to share some awesome jams i've been loving lately. I've always been SUPER into music and finding new and unique stuff that you wouldn't probably hear on the radio. Listen on your next workout, road trip, or #selfcaresunday. You can follow this playlist to be updated when I add new music, or check out my Spotify profile for even more playlists. Hope you enjoy!

San Jose Del Cabo Girls Trip

Me and my good friend Jane have decided it's tradition that we go to Mexico every year. Last year we went to Tulum and stayed at Nest, we knew that was going to be hard to beat, but Cabo did not disappoint! Jane is a flight attendant for Virgin America so we get to fly standby for dirt cheap! It's always a blast traveling with Jane since we both value the same things when we are traveling, ok to be honest it's mostly good food ;), but we also are all about adventure and creating memories. Whether it's bike rides, cliff jumping,  cenote swimming, or just laying by the pool, we're down.

STAY - Hotel El Ganzo - San Jose Del Cabo

This hotel was even prettier in person! The infinity pool and glass jacuzzi were definitely jaw dropping. Me and Jane concluded we could've spent the entire 2.5 days in the pool and we would've been happy campers, maybe a small break to take advantage of the bikes and ride around the marina, but would 100% go back to this hotel! I'd love to take my husband Spenser here!

EAT - Flora Farms - San Jose Del Cabo

Flora Farms is an organic farm oasis in the middle of San Jose Del Cabo. Everything at their restaurant is either grown there or locally sourced nearby. We went for breakfast and the only option was the breakfast buffet. At first we were a little bummed we didn't get to order off their menu, but we both went back to the buffet several times, everything was so good and fresh! Hands down the best/biggest bloody mary i've ever laid my eyes on. I had no idea I was going to get a whole salad in my drink, but I wasn't mad about it!

ADVENTURE - Boat Tour to The Arch in Cabo San Lucas

About a 45 minute drive from our hotel in San Jose Del Cabo is Cabo San Lucas! It definitely has a whole different vibe than where we were staying, but is still worth a visit if you've never been! You can find the dirty mexican street tacos and margaritas you've been craving, and all the mexican blankets your heart desires. We took the "glass bottom boat" tour to the arch, but you guys, the actual glass bottom part of the boat is about 2 feet by 4 feet and super murky haha! Even though that part was a let down, our tour guide took us to a point on the rock that we could jump off of, definitely one of the highest things i've ever jumped off of, but it was so much fun! We found the tour right across from the office restaurant on the beach!

EAT - The Office - Cabo San Lucas

The office is a classic Cabo restaurant that serves delicious mexican food. There's a reason this place is so popular, and you can sit right on the sand if you want!

Overall it was such a fun trip! Can't wait for Mexico Girls trip 2018! Happy New Year everyone!

FRIENDSGIVING 2017 & THE CHARCUTERIE TABLE

Every year Friendsgiving is one of the most anticipated days of the year for me. Not only do I have so much fun obsessing over the tablescape and decor, but the event itself is always so special. There's nothing like gathering some of your closest friends, getting a little dressed up, putting your phones down, and enjoying each others company around a table of good food. When our annual friendsgiving started 3 years ago, I asked Laurie Garza of Fleurie Flower Studio to make a pretty garland for the table, and ever since then I've gone to her to make the table pop with her gorgeous florals. This year she killed it yet again! She came over the morning of Friendsgiving and we played around with different arrangements throughout my living room & dining room! My mom came over too and gave my plants a little love and helped assemble the charcuterie board. This is definitely not sponsored (I mean come on, this is my first blog post ever!), but it's no secret that I am unashamedly obsessed with Target, and that infatuation shines very loud and clear on this years table. The gorgeous green vases and the napkins are part of the Hearth and Hand with Magnolia line at Target and the stoneware plates, minimalist glassware and gold flatware are from target as well.

Everyone contributes a dish or two to friendsgiving, (I don't think it is humanly possible to cook a whole thanksgiving meal in our TINY kitchen) and this year Spenser and I made, mashed and sweet potatoes, a seville orange bourbon punch, and a charcuterie table! I went a little crazy with it, but the more the better when it comes to charcuterie right?! I'm sharing my charcuterie shopping list at the end of the post that you can print out and take to Trader Joes with you if you want to create your own!
